Stöj Snak is a Folk Punk, Screamer-Songwriter project from the Northern Danish city Aalborg. The band is the brain child of Niels H. Sörensen and was never even meant to come out of his bedroom studio but after being strongly encouraged by friends, the debut-EP PLANNED OBSOLESCENCE was produced in early 2012.
Musically Niels, who also plays guitar and sing backing vocals in the melodic hardcore band Mighty Midgets and helps run the indie label 5FeetUnder Records, has been shaped by the punk scene and the creative attitude found within this community. And though Stöj Snak in some aspects is a step away from punk and the limitations of a traditional band, the political engagement, raw energy and ANARCHISTIC APPROACH is still very visible in the songwriting.
Furthermore, Stöj Snak is also driven by a heavy DIY ethic and everything on the EP, from recording through creating artwork to the physical assembly of the cover, was DONE BY NIELS HIMSELF – everything except mastering which by Midgets band mate Rasmus Glassau Clausen. This approach has led to a more personal and unpolished end result but also created a more iterative flow, so when the EP was sold out at the very first live show a redux version was quickly made - including all songs on the EP performed LIVE from his allotment garden house featuring fellow record label founder Jesper Olsen on the harmonica.
The objective of Stöj Snak is to create honest, UNCOMPROMISED music fuelled by nothing but the desire to create. And though this might just be the beginning the journey will remain far more important than ever reaching the end…
